THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL, MEMPHIS, SATURDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 25, 1933 2,500 JOBS UNDER SPECIAL GWA WORK Extra Men Will Be Put To Work In Tennessee WASHINGTON, Nov. -The Civil Works Administration today announced jobs for 2,500 Tennesseans as soon as work can be started. The national forest service will take 1,900 men for a wide range of projects in national forests. They will not be C. C.

C. members. The bureau of chemistry and soils of the Department of Agriculture was given approval for a project to make maps showing soiltypes throughout the south. In Tennessee 50 men will be given work. The coast and goedetic survey will employ 440 Tennesseans and the War Department has obtained approval for various projects contemplating improvements, general cleaning and minor construction at a number of federal ceme: teries in the state.

The War Department projects were: Greenville (Andrew Johnson tomb), to cost $5,000, with jobs for 28 men for 60 Knoxville cemetery: to cost 200, jobs for 14 for 60 days; a project to cost $9,200, jobs for, 28 for 90 days. Memphis cemetery: $10,000, jobs for 31 to 90 days. Nashville cemetery: $4.500, jobs for 21 for 60 days; $4.200, jobs for 12 for 90 days. NASHVILLE, Nov. quotas for men to be employed on projects financed by the federal civil works program were announced tonight by CWA administration, withe Shelby leading the list with an allotment of 7.072.

Of this number, 4,884 have been transferred from work-relief projects. leaving 2,188 openings in the civil works program. total of 39,567 have been similarly, transferred throughout leaving approximately 16,700 for new workers.
