  • If you are currently on a Nazareth-approved leave of absence: You don't need to re-apply. Contact the Registration & Records Office for information about enrolling for the term of your return.

Transcript(s)

Ask all colleges you've attended to send an official transcript to Nazareth. Also, if you've earned fewer than 30 college credits, ask your high school to send your official high school transcript.

Nursing applications are due March 1 (fall) or October 1 (spring). Nursing decisionsare mailed mid-March for fall applicants and mid-October for spring applicants.
Occupational therapy applications are due March 1 (fall only) and decisions are mailed mid-March.

Admission Guidelines

GPA, Transfer Credits, and More
  • Minimum GPA: A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher is preferred. Exceptions:
    • Candidates for teacher certification: minimum GPA of 2.7.
    • All majors in the sciences, clinical lab sciences, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and communication sciences and disorders (speech): minimum GPA 3.0 cumulative with "B" average in math and sciences.
  • Interviews: Not required, but all transfer applicants are encouraged to meet with a transfer counselor and have a campus tour.Contact Transfer Admissions,585-389-2055,tradmissions@naz.edu.

Communication Sciences and Disorders Applicants

Applying: A cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required.

Nursing Applicants

Applying

The following details apply to three Nazareth nursing programs:

  • R.N. to B.S. in Nursing
  • B.S. in Nursing
  • L.P.N. to B.S. in Nursing

Admissions standards

  • A cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required. See Prerequisite coursework.
  • If fewer than 30 college credits have been earned/in progress, your high school transcriptmust be sent.
    • Application deadlines: March 1for fall, Oct. 1for spring.
    • Admission decisions for nursing applicants are mailed mid-March for fall start, and mid-October for spring.

Prerequisite coursework

For direct entry into the Nursing program, the following prerequisite courseworkmust be completedwith a grade of “B” or better without "repeats." Science coursework must have been taken within the last five years.

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I (with lab), must be completed at the same institution as A&P II
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology II (with lab), must be completed at the same institution as A&P I
  • Microbiology (with lab)
  • One semester of college-level Chemistry (with lab)
  • Statistics
  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Developmental Psychology
Occupational Therapy Applicants

Applying

  • A cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required.
  • Application deadline: March 1for fall start only.Decisions are mailed in mid-March.

Due to the sequential nature of the coursework, all transfer students enter with sophom*ore or junior status.

  • For those entering as sophom*ores: The following prerequisites must be completed with a grade of B or better without repeats and must have been within the last five years: Biology (with lab),Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II (with lab) — and the Human Anatomy and Physiology courses must be completed at the same institution.
  • For those entering as juniors: You must have completed abachelor's degree (in any major, as long as you have completed the prerequisites). You must have completed the following prerequisites with a grade of B or better without repeats. The science coursework must have been taken within the last five years: Biology (with lab), Physics (with lab), Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Introduction to Sociology or Introduction to Social and Cultural Anthropology, Statistics, and Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II (with lab) — and the Human Anatomy and Physiology courses must be completed at the same institution.
Physical Therapy Applicants
  • You must have an overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher and a science-based GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.
  • Success in foundational science courses is positively associated with student success in our PT program.
  • Personal statements should focus on how you are committed to the profession and major.
Visual and Performing Arts Applicants

Art: Portfolio review required. Register for a portfolio review.

Dance Studies:Audition required.Registerfor a dance audition.

Music: Audition required. Register for a music audition.

Theatre and Performing Arts:Audition or portfolio review required. Register for a performing arts audition/portfolio review.

Definition of Undergraduate

Definition:Whether you're coming to Nazareth from a two-year college or a four-year college, you're an "undergraduate" student. (The terms graduate students and graduate programs are used only after completing a bachelor's degree.)

After Applying

  1. You will get an email confirming you have submitted your application, sent to the email address you provided on your application.
  2. Use your Admissions Dashboard to monitor the status of your application.
Financial Aid for Transfer Students
  • Add Nazareth University to your FAFSA online.
  • Scholarships and grants: Nazareth offers scholarships and grants to transfer students based on merit and academic achievement; based on need; and based on musical, artistic, or theatre talent. They require full-time attendance and may be used toward tuition charges only. When combined with other grants/scholarships or benefits restricted to tuition charges (i.e. NYS TAP, Veteran's/ROTC tuition benefits, tuition exchange, etc.), the combination may not exceed full tuition. Details:

Financial aid notification: Accepted students receive a financial aid package seven to 10 days after notification of program acceptance and Nazareth's receipt of your FAFSA.
