I wrote about the actual goal of Biden’s climate policy as I understand it. It is different, more difficult, and far riskier than “just make clean energy as cheap as you can, by any means possible” heatmap.news/politics/biden…

While running on a platform of a fictitious ‘Biden Crime Wave,’ Trump shared the stage & accepted the endorsem*nt of 2 gang members currently on bond after a 140 count indictment including murder & 12 shootings, but 99% of the country is unaware of it because media doesn’t care.

A fascinating thing to me about the YIMBY movement is the extent to which it's just rediscovery of what everyone knew all along.

If Joe Biden had run for president in 1992 could have been Bill Clinton?
Would Clinton have been ahead of Blanche Lincoln in line for the 1998 senate nomination? Wouldn’t he have been a great ticket-balancing selection for Obama in 2008?

Trump's repulsive claim that Putin will free WSJ reporter only *for him* pushes a darker message, that Trump has 'a buddy-buddy relationship with some of the worst dictators in the world.'
Lots of great insights on this from Nicholas Grossman on today's pod:

All through Obama’s first term we were plagued by people looking at the microeconomic consequences of macroeconomic slack (video games, skill mismatch) and misdescribing them as the causes.
These days people are doing the same thing with inflation component analysis.

Before passing away in January, my dad worked in his hospital bed on the copy edits to his new book. (Never too late to show up his sons on the research productivity front.) That book, a short intro to U.S. crime trends, is now out and available FOR FREE: cambridge.org/core/elements/…

I was fascinated in the late 1980s by my surviving great-grandfather’s stories of growing up in the 1890s in a Yiddish-speaking village with no cars or electricity.
