Seven long years had passed since Bryce Yockey (cover image) tasted WSOP glory. But the poker gods smiled upon him again on a fateful Sunday at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP). With a breathtaking display of skill and determination, Yockey stormed back into the winner’s circle, seizing his second coveted bracelet in Event #8: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha.

This was no ordinary victory. In a field of 733 seasoned pros, Yockey emerged as a force of nature, outplaying his opponents to claim not only the title but a staggering $606,654 – the biggest single cash of his illustrious career.

The stage was set for an epic Sunday showdown at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, where Yockey faced a formidable final opponent, Farid Jattin. Jattin, no stranger to high-stakes poker, put up a valiant fight, but in the end, it was Yockey’s day to shine, bagging his second bracelet seven years after winning the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Championship at the 2017 WSOP. Jattin settled for a respectable second place and a $404,430 consolation prize.

For Yockey, this win was more than just another notch on his belt. It was a triumphant return, a testament to his perseverance and unwavering passion for the game. “There’s no feeling like it,” Yockey exclaimed, his voice brimming with emotion as he reflected on his monumental victory. “Winning a WSOP tournament is the pinnacle in any poker career. I feel validated because I’ve worked hard on my PLO game, and today, it paid off. The support from everyone means the world to me.” Yockey’s raw passion was palpable, resonating with fans and fellow players alike.

Yockey’s triumph marked a hat trick for the 25K Fantasy Draft, as he became the third player from the league to snag a bracelet this year. Poker legend John Hennigan added to his already impressive seven-bracelet collection with a win in Event #7: $1,500 Dealer’s Choice, while Nick Guagenti notched his second career bracelet in Event #9: $1,500 Limit Hold’em (8-Handed), a testament to the league’s knack for picking future champions.

Fueled by his recent triumph and a burning desire to cement his legacy, Yockey roared his ambition to the rafters, declaring, “I’m going to win another one this year.”

When I saw myself get drafted for $13 in the fantasy draft, I’m like, f*** these guys. I’m just going to win two bracelets instead. I do a morning affirmation every day and I just tell myself I’m going to win two, and I got one down so far.” Yockey’s audacious self-belief has ignited a fire within him, setting the stage for what could be a legendary WSOP run.

But Yockey’s ambitions extend beyond simply collecting bracelets. He has his sights set on the ultimate prize: the WSOP Player of the Year title. “I’m never going to be like Shaun Deeb or Daniel Negreanu. I’m never going to play two tournaments at the same time unless it’s a really unusual situation. But, I mean, I always play 40 events anyway. If I play another ten, it’s really not that different. So I’ll be in here every single day,” he asserted.

Throughout the final day, Yockey and Jattin were at the forefront, navigating significant ICM implications due to their chip leads. “I had to be cautious with him,” Yockey noted. “He was clearly willing to play more hands than ICM would suggest. Even though I actually had him covered for a stretch, he had enough chips that we were so close..”

Event #8: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha (8-Handed) attracted 735 entries, generating a $3,371,000 prize pool. As Day 1 ended, 130 players remained, narrowing down to 11 by Day 2, with Yockey as the chip leader and the player to beat.

The top 110 finishers were guaranteed at least $10,000. Notables making the money lines included bracelet winners like Anson Tsang (17th for $23,667), Anthony Zinno (19th for $23,667), Rep Porter (21st for $23,667), Chance Kornuth (27th for $19,566), Poker Hall of Famer Phil Ivey (57th for $11,004), and Chad Eveslage (63rd for $11,004).

Final Day Recap

The final day kicked off at noon sharp (local time), and the tension was palpable. In a whirlwind start, it took a mere 40 minutes for the first casualty of the day. Gabriel Andrade, a formidable player in his own right, found himself on the wrong end of a crucial hand, exiting in 11th place with a respectable $36,526 consolation prize. Less than 10 minutes later, six-time bracelet winner Brian Rast saw his bracelet dreams shattered in 10th place, also taking home $36,526.
